An attempt has been made for the first time to apply a powerful computational intelligence technique like GSA to optimize PI and PIDF controller parameters for AGC of a multiarea interconnected power system. Firstly, the system without any physical constraint is optimized using conventional objective functions. It is observed the performance of the power system is better in terms of minimum damping ratio, settling times and peak overshoots in frequency and tie-line power deviations when ITAE objective function is used compared to IAE, ISTE and ISE objective functions.

The present study gives the numerical solution for MHD effects on the boundary layer flow and heat transfer with a variable fluid viscosity on flow past a heated stretching sheet embedded in porous medium in presence of heat source/sink and viscous dissipation. Efficient method of Lie group analysis is used to solve the governing equations of motion. This procedure helps in removing the difficulties faced in solving the equations arising from the non-linear character of the partial differential equations. The scaling symmetry group is very essential procedure to comprehend the mathematical model and to find the similarity solutions for such type of flow which have wider applications in the engineering disciplines related to fluid mechanics.

The present research is a step toward enhancing file manipulation in CAD/CAM systems. It focuses on 2D drawings in DXF file format. The developed algorithms reduce the file size through elimination of overlapping entities; POINT, LINE, CIRCLE and ARC. Moreover, it unifies the entities format in predefined ones and reduces the number of used layers. The algorithms are explained in details. A computer program is established to apply the developed algorithms. The computer program was tested using specially prepared files for every entity type.

This paper presented the speed control for DC motor drive based on the FPGA technology. The speed control based on an FPGA and the two embedded controllers are implemented by using VHDL code software and Spartan-3E FPGA starter kit Board hardware. It is designed to realize the aforementioned control algorithms for ensuring high performance. Therefore, all functionalities, which are based on software/ hardware co-design, required to build a fully digital speed control for DC motor drive, have been integrated in one FPGA chip.

In this paper Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Differential Evolution (DE) approach are used for the optimal allocation and setting of FACTS devices along with reactive generation of generators and transformer tap positions. Two cases are considered for the optimal location and types of FACTS devices. In the first case, TCSC as a series controller and SVC as a shunt FACTS controller is used along with the existing power system variables for obtaining economic operation of the power system.

In this paper, a Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm optimized fuzzy PID controller has been proposed for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of multi-area multi-units power systems. Initially a multi-area multi-units power system with the considerations of physical constraints such as GRC and time delays is considered and the superiority of DE over GA is demonstrated. A linear incremental model for a TCSC has also been developed which is suitable for AGC applications.

In this paper, the dynamic model of UPFC, which consist of two shunt converters and a series capacitor, has been obtained. Simulation results operated by MATLAB/SIMULINK show that response of system without using the controller is unstable. For dynamic stability improvement, lead-lag controller has been used. SVD has been employed to evaluate the EM mode controllability to PSS and the four UPFC control signals. It has been shown that the EM mode is most strongly controlled via dB for a wide range of loading conditions. Classical and intelligent techniques have been used to enhance the dynamic stability.

An attempt has been made for the first time to apply a hybrid Firefly Algorithm (FA) and Pattern Search (PS) technique to design a SSSC based power oscillation damping controller. The input signal to the SSSC-based controller is derived from the locally measurable line active power. The design problem is formulated as an optimization problem and h-FAPS technique is employed to optimize the controller parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed SSSC controller in improving the power system stability is demonstrated for both single machine infinite bus and two-area four-machine power systems under various severe disturbances.

In this paper, an investigation is done for the load-tracking performance of an autonomous power system model. The proposed autonomous power system model exhibits an excellent dynamic performance with truly optimized different controller gains. It is also presented that the DEG plays a significant role in maintaining the terminal voltage variations along with the optimized controller gains of the studied power system model. The main tunable parameters of the investigated model are optimized by a novel OGSA. The potential benefits yielded by the proposed algorithm are compared to other state-ofthe-art algorithms surfaced in the recent literature. A timedomain simulation of the studied autonomous model is carried out under different kinds of input perturbations.

In this paper, we propose a framework for energy efficient reliable data transport in Wireless Sensor Networks. The proposed framework constructs a cluster based structure for handling spatial redundancy by aggregating redundant data at CHs. It also minimises the temporal redundant data transmission with the co-ordination of BS and the BS detects the redundant data even without receiving from the sensor node.

The proposed regression technique is used for tuning the fractional order time delay system with PID controller. In the regression technique, fractional order system output parameters were utilized to derive the time delay system response in the form of the regression function. Then, the best weights were selected by an iterative algorithm for fitting the best system response.

In this paper we have studied Dufour and Soret effects on unsteady MHD convective heat and mass transfer flow past an infinite vertical plate embedded in a porous medium in the presence of thermal radiation. From the present numerical study the following conclusions can be drawn: an increase in thermal radiation parameter, the velocity and temperature profiles increase. Suction stabilizes the hydrodynamic, thermal as well as concentration boundary layers growth.

The uniqueness of the proposed system is that a Zigbee enabled state-of-the-art microcontroller based ZPMU and ZIED are developed and tested in the laboratory with satisfactory results. Since Zigbee is itself a robust communication scheme, this WSN for substation monitoring is highly reliable. In the ZPMU, the phase angle is calculated from the voltage or current samples by comparing their zero crossing instants. The Sample Shifting Technique makes it possible to calculate active and reactive power from voltage and current samples only without calculating the power factor angle.

In this paper HVDC is implemented in transmission line regards to oscillation damping beside other advantages of it. ICA approach is used to find optimum gains of designed controller. To validate the effectiveness of presented approach, dynamic response of rotor speed and rotor angle deviation considering several scenarios with different loading conditions and with different disturbances occurred in power system are studied. The obtained results are compared with CPSS and GA-based HVDC controller and the comparison validates that the presented method is more efficient in oscillation damping context.

In this paper, a cascaded transformer multilevel inverter with reduced number of switching components is presented. The proposed topology utilizes low-frequency single-phase transformers and a DC voltage source. This configuration can reduce the number of switches in comparison with conventional cascaded transformer multilevel inverters. Selective harmonic elimination technique is applied to mitigate the loworder harmonic components. In order to verify the operation and performance of the proposed inverter, simulation and experimental results using a single-phase 9-level multilevel inverter prototype are provided.

A study of the application of BIM for the case-study building, which was a sample of single, residential, house, was conducted. The results of the study will be useful to architects and building designers as they use the BIM concept to develop more energy-efficient buildings in the future with the goal of achieving sustainable development for society. Government should provide incentives for designers and engineers to use the BIM tool, specifically in the pre-construction stage, to investigate problems that are likely to occur in the future so they can deal with such problems in the preliminary stage. Education and training also are significant factors that should be taken into account by government for improving BIM in each society.

From the previously mentioned studies related to the use of RS and GIS in groundwater mapping, it could be concluded thatgroundwater mapping is one of the main tools for efficient and controlled development of groundwater resources. These maps are used by engineers, planners and decision makers to allocate, develop and manage groundwater within a national water policy. Integrated RS and GIS techniques prove to be rather satisfactory options for groundwater mapping in different regions of Egypt.

The effects of variable viscosity and variable thermal conductivity on mixed convective heat and mass transfer past a vertical wavy surface embedded in a fluid saturated porous medium with Dufour and Soret effects have been investigated theoretically. The main conclusions of the present investigations are as follows: it is observed that increase in temperature dependent viscosity leads to thicken the velocity boundary layer while reduce the thermal and solutal boundary layer thickness as well as Nusselt number and Sherwood number.

In this paper, a novel fuzzy PID with derivative filter controller has been proposed for Load Frequency Control (LFC) of an interconnected power system with multi-source power generation in deregulated environment. The study has been conducted on a two area six unit power systems interconnected via parallel AC/DC transmission links. Physical constraints such as Time Delay (TD) and Generation Rate Constrain ) are considered in the system model in order to make the system more realistic and demonstrate the ability of the proposed approach to handle nonlinearity in the system model.

This survey has discussed various compression techniques for WMSN with comparison among them and factors that affect compression performance. Image quality, compression ratio, speed of compression and power consumption are the most important metrics discussed for compression performance. Performance metrics differ according to operating platform. Resource constrained platforms i.e. Wireless multimedia sensor networks have some limitations on memory, power consumption, processor capabilities and life time of sensor nodes. Therefore, SPIHT is the most powerful technique that can be used due to the following reasons: SPIHT achieves very compact output bit stream and low bit rate with high compression ratio than that of its predecessor’s EZW without adding an entropy encoder, which allows its efficiency in terms of computational complexity.

In the present paper, experimental and numerical studies are implemented on a bridge abutment to simulate the local scour depth under the effect of changing the abutment edge shape and collar lengths. 3-D computational fluid dynamic models, which based on finite volume method to solve the Navier– Stokes equations, are created by using SSIIM program. It was found that, the relative scour depth decreases as the relative radius of abutment edge increases. In addition, the reduction percents of local scour depth for r/b = 0 (sharp edge), 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.4, 2.4, 4.1, and 13.3 are 69%, 87%, 88%, 90%, 92%, 93%, 94%, 95%, 96%, and 95.5% respectively compared to the no-collar case. In addition, the increases of the relative length of collar share to more control and minimize the local scour depth either for upstream or for downstream of bridge abutment.

I dati costituiscono l’elemento di base di ogni sistema computerizzato, in qualunque ambito applicativo. Un’eventuale alterazione dei dati può causare problematiche e inconvenienti che ne potrebbero comprometterne il funzionamento in modo più o meno grave, a volte irreparabile. L’importanza dei dati, anche nel settore farmaceutico, è andata progressivamente crescendo nel corso degli anni. Lo dimostrano l’evoluzione della normativa del settore e gli argomenti trattati durante le ispezioni degli organismi di controllo, nazionali e internazionali.
Spesso le informazioni relative alle valvole di sicurezza sono mancanti. Verifiche e controlli visivi non sempre sono attuabili e/o sufficienti e tempestivi per rilevare eventuali perdite. Le emissioni inaspettate e rischio sanzioni rappresentano le problematiche principali. La soluzione è il miglioramento della visibilità tramite Fisher 4320 Wireless Position Monitor che permette una riduzione dei sopralluoghi in campo. Manutenzione straordinaria mirata e riduzione dei relativi costi, una ricezione di segnali multipli di dati utili all’analisi del processo e all’archiviazione e permette di identificare velocemente l’area di impianto problematica.
